 Case Management

Changes in reimbursement methodologies have escalated the importance of co-operation in health care management. This CAI provides a comprehensive education in the processes of case management from both the nursing and social agency perspectives. This system addresses the role the Case Management team plays in today’s health care climate. Intended for use in traditional, initial graduate courses, in-service, distance and continuing education.

Community Health – Comhealth I

This fundamental community health system presents current trends in health and health care, and community/public health theory. Lessons included are: health promotion, epidemiology, protection, risk reduction, and families at risk. This system emphasizes a wide range of variables that impact the promotion of health and the deliverance of health care to populations, families, and individuals.

Community Assessment - Comhealth II

This intermediate level CAI, supporting any public health textbook, provides instruction on modeling processes. This course includes lessons in contemporary health systems, current issues, and the level nursing process. Created for all disciplines, traditional, continuing, in-service, and distance education.

DIABETES I

This initial system provides students with a fundamental understanding of diabetes. This CAI addresses this escalating health problem with practical suggestions for nutrition management, the role of physical activity, and the role and use of insulin therapy. Hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia are reviewed in this course.

The nursing troubleshooting section presents situations encountered in clinical practice. These situations may be remedied by nursing intervention utilizing the information provided in the diabetes i CAI as a problem-solving guide. Look for Diabetes II to follow.

Ethics availability December 2003!

This timely system covers ethical dilemmas across the lifespan--from neonates to elder care. This system includes lessons on ethical decision making "who decides" as well as covering personal and societal values — reporting of suspected abuse, unplanned pregnancy, and genetic counseling. ETHICS is designed for multiple disciplines and all levels of education.

Gerontology I

This introductory system, suitable for multi-disciplines, defines and describes the fundamentals of geriatric care. Lessons included are: demographics of aging, theories of aging, factors of the aging process, physiological and psychosocial changes, economics of health care, ethical and legal issues, and the team approach to geriatric care. This CAI is an outstanding tool for all participants in elder care.

GERONTOLOGY II

This timely multi-cultural intermediate level gerontology system is appropriate for upper division baccalaureate or initial graduate level course work. Topics presented include: physiological changes, cognitive changes, dimensions of wellness and aging, stress management, environmental issues, driving, nutritional concerns, a safe environment, multiple losses, relocation, and the leaving of a legacy.

HOMEHEALTH I

As hospital stays are shorter and the population ages Home Health Care has become vital. Included in this timely system are: case managing, standards of care, traditional settings, certification, quality controls, legal and ethical issues, financing, and new technology. This CAI is written for traditional, in-service, continuing, and distance education.

HOSPICE

This CAI teaches nursing and allied health students basic components of Hospice Care. The nursing standards of care, pain management, the management of non-pain symptoms, psycho- social care, grief and bereavement are addressed in this system. The responsibilities and duties of the Hospice Team are identified and reviewed.

An ideal tool for teaching and learning the research process, this undergraduate level system describes and exemplifies the steps in that process. Included in this second edition CAI are lessons on reliability and validity, data collection, and research theory. This is an excellent system for independent study, and all research students. STATPRIM - Basic Statistics

This upgraded statistics tutor addresses the concepts and calculations covered in introductory statistics courses. Calculations are presented in simple and comprehensive solution steps without mathematical derivations. This CAI prepares participants for the act or AP statistics examin- ation. This course is used by government agency, hospital in-service, and in all educational disci- plines. Graduate students find this an excellent refresher to support quantitative and qualitative research courses.

RURAL HEALTH

This extensive system, provides perspective from the rural community/public health viewpoint. Included in the eleven lessons, is information on the rural health delivery system, and examination of the role and scope nursing plays in the rural environment. Common illnesses, occupational accidents, and health beliefs of rural residents are highlighted. Designed for international, allied health, nursing, and social agency participants.

SMARTPRIM - Critical Thinking

The ability to communicate in a logical manner is a necessity in today’s climate. This comprehensive system covers critical and logical thinking skills for development of clear and concise oral and written presentations. This CAI emphasizes the practical application of these skills. Included in this system are lessons on the following: defining concepts, creative logic and reasoning, development of an argument, developing a paper, examination of speech, developing a perspective or paradigm, analysis of audience, capturing ideas, references and plagiarism. An easy-to-use grading system providing a time saving device for self-evaluation or grading system by faculty is also presented. This effective system is utilized by nursing, allied health, and other areas of education.
