This CAI will stimulate thought on the following topics: the types of living arrangements that are desirable as well as practical, financial issues, a safe environment, and multi-generational housing. This system is designed for in-service training and all levels of education.

This CAI focuses on systems of the body, mind, and spirit. It embodies a new and broader way of thinking about health, illness, and healing. This system succinctly guides professional nursing stu- dents in holism and holistic. This program may stand alone for use as an auto-tutorial or as an adjunct assignment associated with a course. The PARISH NURSING CAI, designed for international use, is appropriate for baccalaureate or graduate level programs, continuing and distance education, and health agency orientation.

PASTORAL CARE

Pastoral Care has increasingly become an integral part of the holistic care of patients in hospitals, members of religious communities, and of all with whom we come in contact in our daily lives. It is both crisis care and continued presence. In its inception, Pastoral Care was in the religious sector. Today, this is accepted as spiritual and not necessarily religious. Pastoral Care puts the care of the spirit back into contemporary scientific managed health care. Look for this CAI in 2004.

SOCIO-CULTURAL ISSUES in HEALTH and HEALTH CARE

This course examines the influence of culture, ethnicity, gender, age and lifestyle on health definition and behavior by the provider and the client. Social, cultural, economic, and political changes have occurred necessitating change in health care delivery. Successful health care in a hospital, clinic, or home setting will depend on the provider’s technical knowledge, ability to work in a team, and cultural understanding of various groups served to meet the needs of clients. This interdisciplinary course will be available in 2004.

SUICIDEOLOGY

This in depth instructional system deals with suicide from the first warning signals, our ability to offer support, and to assist the family or caregiver. This system is appropriate for multiple disciplines psychology, sociology, and all allied health professionals. This CAI is also designed for use as an in-service educational tool for home health agencies, hospice, and geriatric facilities.
