integrates scientific knowledge from sociology, psychology, nursing education, ethics, communication, administration, and health care policies. Lessons included are: the nature of addiction and the addictive process, incidence and prevalence of tobacco-related diseases, morbidity, mortality, statistics as they impact on society, and the role of the health care provider in tobacco cessation.
